The Amazing Supreme Breakfast Sandwich

Supreme breakfast sandwich, egg, bacon, sausageThere isn’t a fast food joint in town that’s got anything as good as this supreme breakfast sandwich. This delicious blend of sausage, egg, and bacon uses fresh ingredients to make a tasty breakfast everyone will love (unless you are a vegetarians of course). I really love breakfast sandwiches and this sandwich is a lot of fun to make. I make it when camping or when I’m just hanging out at home.

If you like, you can make this breakfast sandwich a little healthier by using turkey bacon, turkey or chicken sausage, and even some egg whites.  I choose to go for the gusto and use pork bacon and sausage with a real egg when I make these because its a treat. I also like to use as many local organic and grass fed ingredients as possible because I think its just the right thing to do. I chose to do this sandwich on the ciabatta roll but you can chose what ever type of bread you like.

Supreme Breakfast Sandwich Is A Meat Lovers Paradise

This sandwich started out as a pie iron recipe when I was out camping. The first time I made it, it was just with bread, eggs, and cheese. These days it has evolved into this meat lovers paradise. If you read the prelude to my cookbook, Damn Fine Dishes, Supreme breakfast sandwich, egg, bacon, sausageyou will read all about how this pie iron sandwich was the inspiration for the book, and eventually this site. I felt it was only right to share this recipe with the digital world so that you and your friends could enjoy it as well. For a pie iron breakfast sandwich, I use regular bread instead of a ciabatta roll since it fits in the pie iron better. You will also want to make sure your sausage patty is not too big so that it smashes the bread when close the pie iron.

Regardless of which way you decide to make this breakfast sandwich, a pie iron or a skillet, have fun and experiment with different ingredients. Over time I added the bacon, but I also really like this with a little spinach and/or tomato. Other things I may try in the future are pancetta, caramelized onions, and ham. I encourage you to do the same and play with some of your favorite ingredients. Have fun and enjoy this meaty, cheesy piece of sandwich goodness.
