While I prefer the battery operated rotisserie for cooking chickens and roasts, the Texsport Rotisserie Grill and Spit has also been in my camping gear for several years. This is an excellent choice if you want versatility in your camping and cooking gear. Not only can it be used as a rotisserie but it can be used as a grill or platform for other cooking gear such as coffee pots, frying pans or pots. This item is sturdy and holds several items well.
On paper this grill is great, but it does have some issues. Primarily, it can be a little wobbly when placed in the campfire pit. At the same time, it is much more sturdy than some tripod grills I have seen. The other issue I had with it is that the rotisserie does not keep the meat as steady as I would like. The rotisserie has an extra bar that is supposed to pierce the meat, while this is a nice idea, it does not work nearly as good as rotisserie forks. The other issue with the rotisserie was that moving by hand was a bit of a pain because the meat would not be level and would always turn to the heavy side. this was solved by using a vise grip to hold the rotisserie in place, but it was painful.
All and all, this is a fun product, even if it is not perfect. The things I like about it were that I could hang my coffee pot on the arms while I grilled stuff for breakfast. This kept the coffee hot and didn’t take up precious cooking space. I like that it is versatile and easy to carry and that I can do many things with it.
